My Jeremiah David

In the early part of 2005 two major things happened that would change our lives forever.
1. We submitted this family photo along with hundreds of other pages of paperwork to be able to find that certain little someone we KNEW was meant to be in our family.
2. A baby boy was born into a family that wasn't fit to take care of him and he was swept up by CPS and placed with a loving foster family to take care of him for the first 15 months of his life.
That sweet boy was MY Jeremiah.
On March 2, 2005 little Miah was born. As lucky as he was, he was soon part of a BIG loving family. He had a Larry and a Vicki.

A Nana.

An Andrew.

THREE BIG brothers, Brandon, Curtis and Topher.

A Katie.

And a Clara.

These sweet family members took Miah into their lives as their own and raised this little guy until that family that was meant for him to grow up in was found. You wouldn't believe the story that led our family to Jeremiah. Divine Intervention is the best term to describe it.

And then it happened.
On June 6, 2006 we became legally responsible for our Miah. He was now ours to care for and those sweet family members he grew up with, parted ways with their baby boy. Their care, kindness and love will never be forgotten. 6 months later, on November 29, 2006 we took Jeremiah to court to make it all official. No more "guardians" but PARENTS. A month later we were sealed as a family in the Dallas Temple for time and all eternity.

I was a new mom that day and I couldn't have been happier! My baby boy that I had yearned for and missed even without knowing him, was finally home. It felt SO right.

Miah became part of our family without a hitch.

He quickly sported the traditional Lowe family Mohawk.

And rooted for the Daddy's Sooners!

Today you're 4 Miah. You woke up at 7 am, like you always do with a big smile on your sweet face. I hugged you and told you Happy Birthday and you replied, "Happy Birthday to you too." I can't believe how much you've changed over the past 2 1/2 years. You're so big now, you help Mommy SO much during the day and're a BIG brother! You really are special to me and always will hold a special place in my heart as well as in the hearts of many others that you've touched. How lucky WE are to have you in our lives.

It seems like our family has changed so quickly in the last couple years and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Happy 4th Birthday my Sweet Miah boy.
I love you so much.
ps...if you want to read Miah's FULL adoption story then comment with your email and I'll send you a copy.

Thanks for making my mascara come off first thing Monday morning, Jessica! I love hearing about Miah. It's so special and amazing how you guys found each other. I love his story. As soon as I get home I'm going to get it out and read it again. Thanks for this great post.

I've been having strong feelings about adoption lately. I drive by this Life Choices place every day on my way to work and always look in. Last week, something told me to call, and I did. They sent their information package. I don't know if we will be able to afford them, but something is definitely pulling me toward it.

Hi Jessica, I don't know if you remember me from the Park Glen 1st Ward. This is Shawnee Allred & I was in the Nursery with your precious Miah. Sh, don't tell anyone but he was my favorite!! :) He was (still is) SO cute! Anyway, if it's okay, I'd like a copy of the full adoption story, too. (My email address is This is kind of weird to ask you, because we didn't know each other for that long, but I was wondering if you might also tell me how you found Miah. We've been working with Arrow for about 2 years now, & have not had any luck with the adoption process. If I remember right, YOU found HIM, right? Where did you look or what did you do? Was he on TARE? If you could give me any pointers, I would REALLY appreciate it. I hope I'm not asking too much...I know you're busy, so thank you in advance if you are able to let me know how it worked for you. By the way, I was at the Arrow office last year for some training & saw that your Christmas photo from a couple years ago was still up. Thought that was pretty cool! I hope things are going well for you guys! Miah probably doesn't remember me, but could you please give him a hug from me anyway? Thank you, & take care!!
PS - Happy Birthday Miah!
