It's finally fricken hot!

Okay so after having 500 days of rain, it's finally a sunny hot day and we can go swimming. After all, it IS Summer and that IS what you do, right? So, after waiting all those days to swim when it finally WAS hot, the pools here at the apartment were closed (how ironic). That didn't stop us though, we went to the Hurst city water park yesterday and had a jolly 'ole time playing anyway. Miah and Austin stayed home because Austin was studying (so he says) and Miah was having the day of pooh and vomit.

At the water park Jake loved the diving boards and went off of them over and over. He's a growing 7 year old because when we got lunch at the concession stand, he ate all of HIS hot dog, half of Kora's that she couldn't finish, some of my nachos and was STILL hungry so he went back to get ANOTHER hot dog. For those of you who don't have a calculator handy, I'll do the math. 2 1/2 hot dogs, nachos, coke and an extra large pixie stick. Okay, for some reason I can't comprehend how some little guy, as small as he is, can consume that much food in one setting. I'm almost (that's right, ALMOST, but not quite...don't get confused) 3 times his weight and I can't even eat that much in one setting. (are you supposed to say sitting or setting? whatever..)

Kora had a blast too because she was SUPER brave and even took off her life jacket to try out her swimming in the deep. She did great and even went under water several times. THEN, the most amazing thing happened when she decided to go down the HUGE water slide. She had been talking about it since we got to the park but was too nervous to do it. I kept trying to reassure her that I would be SO proud of her if she did it and that we could tell daddy all about it. FINALLY, she came up to me and said, "OKAY, I'm going on the slide and I KNOW I KNOW you're going to be proud and we're going to tell daddy..I KNOW...I'm just going...BYE!" and then she went! After that she was addicted and went over and over and over.

This was amazing because for those of you who don't know, just last year Kora was scared to DEATH of the water. She wouldn't DARE get near the deep and wouldn't even touch a life jacket. She took swim lessons last year and would cry throughout the ENTIRE lesson for 6 weeks straight..UGH. I'm just glad she's past that and hopefully by the end of this Summer she'll be swimming like a fish.

I didn't take my camera to the water park because I didn't want to have to worry about it getting wet, but here is a picture from their website of the slide Kora went down. It's the cream colored one.
