I'm thinking of something...

SO the other day, I was pondering. HOW can I make my blog super fun for my readers? I'm always doing this ya know? I know MA doesn't think so, but really...I AM. I know my lack of weekly wanna-be's has been killing many of you. I'm sorry for that. If you don't know what I'm talking about, search it and grab some treats to enjoy the show. I think it has to do with the fact that I look and feel like a cow. And thanks to MA he pointed that out to me yesterday when he told me my ankles looked liked elephant legs.
I HAVE THICK ANKLES!!
Ugh.
Geez, my grandma had thick ankles,
all of my sisters have thick ankles,
it's a curse.
Called GENES.
I hate it.
Get off my back loser.
SOOOOO.
What if I do something totaly NUTSO and tell myself that I'm not allowed something I LOOOOOVE? Something I NEEEEED? Something I MUUUUUUUST have?
Like...
An epidural.
Whoa.
What if I do it for the sake of my bloggers to make my VERY LAST CHANCE at the birthing experience...EXTRA crazy.
I mean,
this is my last go round.
(I know you don't believe me but you should. Snipping is in the works.)
This will be something I've never done.
Kinda.
I got one with Kora, but it was too late and I didn't get the effect until the crowning.
Yikes.
Visual.
Okay so THIS time, I'd go ALLLL THEEE WAAAAY.
NOOOOOO DRUGS.
Think I can?
Think you wanna see those birthing pictures that Candace is going to take?
I can GUARANTEE they'll look much different than Isaak's.
So you tell me,
Yes
or
No?
(PS...AMIE!!! You were the winner of my mean girls comment. Email me with your mailing address punk!! Look on my sidebar for email info.)

Oh No!!! Don't do it!! Nothing is worth the sweet relief of a beautiful epidural. NOTHING! You are one silly girl.... :)

you should totally go for it. I can't give you a comparison because I've never had an epidural or any drugs in birthing my two little guys but I will say this, it's not easy, that's why they call it labor and it sounds like you pretty much know what it feels like if your epi didn't take effect until you were crowning. With both of mine I almost turned back but once I had reached the point of desperation I realized I was there, ready to push so it was practically all over any ways. The sense of empowerment it gives you is so worth it. I say go for it. Good luck and congratulations.

Do whatever you want, but I say, take the drugs. Enjoy the experience. You're not proving anything by NOT doing it (only that you're crazy :) ). You still carried the baby for 10 months and push it out of your va-jay-jay and have to recover from that with out drugs. At least the epidural will semi let you rest during the birthing process....or at least disguise the pain. But whatever. I know how you're a freak for pain. Do it if you want. My aunt asked me if I "wimped out and got the epidural". That went ALL over me. I told her that I ENJOYED every BIT of that experience and was not in a BIT of pain (and I SWEAR it helped my labor progress faster b/c I was able to finally relax). But, whatever, if you need to prove it to yourself, do it. :) We already know you COULD do it....I believe it. :)

I think it would be cool to do it without drugs. I think you'd enjoy it. It's kind of like when you work out and you go until you throw up. You just have to know that you can do it, that you can survive it. I know that I've always wanted to go the distance without meds....and like you I had one with Ashlyn but she came out before they really helped. So, I did it, but I didn't do it... it kind of sucks. I just wish I'd known it was so close to being over, know I'll never be able to say... I did it without ANYTHING! But, you know... we will all think your great even if you don't go the distance.... you don't have to prove anything to us! But you could do it to prove it to yourself!

Hey, I just linked to you off of a comment on MMB! How creepy!

I think Dooce went pain-med free on her last baby.

Are you tired of me? Lindsay always said you take someone's link off when you are "over them" and I saw mine was gone.

It was good while it lasted, lover.

Wow! Now I don't know about this one. I just gave birth almost 2 weeks ago and I got an epidural. It was amazing... you know. I too, believe you "could" do it without an epidural, but if you can have one than why not? I'll still read your blog, as will EVERYONE else. But YOU do what YOU want to do. Afterall this is the "last" one. (sorry to those of you who want to check out my blog and see my precious new freshy. It's set to private. But trust me when I say she's Adorable.)

Oh man cankles!! Those suck, luck for me I had them after Patricks birth and no during the pregnancy. So sorry for you!!

And don't be an idiot, use the drugs. That's what they make them for. No for real, if you can do it without, I bow to you. I am not that brave. Drugs are good!!

BTW, I am feeling great. No morning sickness and finally overcoming some of the fatigue. 30 weeks to go!!

ya know me...I say YES. I loved both my drug free births...but I loved the one at the birthing center 100% more then the one at the hospital.....So I hate to say it but I don't think you will have a great drug free experience in the hospital......
1. You need support--ppl who are there to help you and also believe in you and your birthing method of choice.
2. YOU MUST 100% want to do this for yourself...not for us. Or you probably won't make it......

Amanda said...

can I also add....I love the fact that you can just get up and feel good right afterward w/o an epidural.....Molly needs to chime in here she has done it both ways.

Staci said...

ahhhhhhh! You are truely brave! But if this is your last one and you really want to experience it go for it! I would LOVE to hear about the whole thing!

Safire said...

If it's something you'd really like to do, go for it. I've done 2 (3?) births without (one was TWINS! Stupid epidural didn't kick in until AFTER the babies were out.) and I survived. Both were in hospitals. Both were SUPER fast labors. Both I thought I was going to die but felt a-mazing after. Seriously, once the baby was out I could have gotten up and walked to my car no sweat. That is the best kind of high out there. Good luck!

Valinda said...

Kathy did it and I think you should give it a try. You basically already did it once why not go all out on the last little Lowe? I know you can do it. But I won't think your a loser if it doesn't work out either, I vote no epidural. Yes, this advice is coming from someone who had 3 c-sections and was numb from her armpits to her toes for each one :)

You can do it. Prepare. It is much more of a mental game than a physical. If you are mentally tough you can totally do it, and have a good experience.

I know you don't want to hear everyone's experiences, but there are many pros to going natural.

dena said...

if it's good for you; it's good for me. end result....healthy baby boysie.

something tells me if you go no drugs that slide show will stop about the time the pain starts and will pick back up after baby's out. :)

cankles rock. gotta love big ankles AND fluid retention.

Amanda said...

if you do it you better show us all the pic's.....come on....don't hold back! I showed you all mine!

Amanda said...

and I agree all MENTAL. prepare and you might just think it's your best birth of all. I agree with PP the best high afterword...k...I'll shut up now...no more comments on this one from me.

Kathy said...

I think you should do it if you want to. If you don't REALLY want to, it probably won't happen. And just so you know, if you decide to go drug-free-the crowning and pushing part is what the drugs are for. The rest is a cake walk. I have done it both ways so I won't say which you should do. But I preferred the recovery after going natural. It was the best!

nat said...

i think your crazy to think of doing it with no meds...my vote is a big fat NO...why feel the pain when you don't have to

Froggylady said...

I'm all about an epidural, but think it would be wonderful to experience birth naturally. See, I'm no help but I say go for it if that's what your heart desires! You were basically there with Kora (so it sounds) so you know you can do it.

Willis Party of 5 said...

I'm telling you, the ONLY way to truely experience a birth is to HOMEBIRTH!!!!! Get the kiddie pool out, fill it up in the kitchen and we will all sit around and watch you mown and grown and labor all over the house. I'll get the strainer out to hold the LOTUS in, and if you want, I'll even suck on it to make sure that there are no holes in it. Thats what friends are for right?!?!

So, yes, GO FOR IT! No Epidural!!!! I really can't wait for all of it. Its going to be SO much drama, and I LOVE it!!!!!

Dana said...

oh my goodness you will be my idol if you go natural. it's something me and the bf talk about and i want to do it but am not sure i have the balls.

Dana said...

I personally would get the drugs.,. but I do agree with Bonnie.. I think you should do it since you like the whole pain thing to workout

Camilla said...

My epidural was not working so well with the last one and I was going crazy. I would not want to intensify that pain. But if you really want that experience then this is it.

Bryn said...

Having experienced o natural no fault of my own, it is totally doable but it sucks. So I say enjoy the drugs sista! Btw your blog is hilarious Isaak is so adorable he should be on baby gap posters, really your whole family is stinkin cute. Good luck with the big decision.

Listen cankles............I've done both (not by choice) and DRUGS ARE GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!! :)

OMG you're totally trying to sabotage MY birthing session. I'd love to see you do this, BUT if it gets too crazy in there, I may miss some things with the camera out of pure trauma.

Read that...if you're interested. I guess she went sans drugs as well.

Look, I say...if you're doing it for the last time...and you want to...why not? Go out with a bang right? It's all about experiencing life and living it to the fullest!!

But for goodness sakes, do it cuz you want to...not cuz the blog readers said so!

Your blog is already super and you need not worry to much about it. See you in 3 days. Love Dad

Do it if you can, don't if you can't! I am wise I know!

Riece said...

I say take the drugs... BUT... I will say that I have had private thoughts myself about having one au naturale. I have some secret, crazy, subconscious desire to really EXPERIENCE child birth, challenge myself, OWN my body... it's weird, but I've thought baout it... I think I would end up being too much of a weenie.

Jess said...

Do it! I had Brad naturally (by choice) and it was completely empowering and one of my proudest moments. Just think of what you can accomplish if you can do this. When Austin leaves you for a year with five little kids by yourself, it won't even be a comparison. Kidding. But really, I vote for you to go all the way.

Okay, I'm kind of concerned that we don't have plans until Friday. I totally understand if you are hanging out with your family, but you'd better not be having girls' night without me!
