Beach Vacation

So what if we LIVE at the beach. We can still go there for vacation too, right? There's no law against that. So 20 weeks ago we booked our little lodge for 4 nights with our sweet friends being our neighbors and this last weekend, we got to enjoy the fruit of our labors. (well, we didn't really labor for it. Well kinda, but not really.)
Before we left we had to make sure the house was clean because they've been showing our house to renters. Thankfully, my fake dad took charge. He's always so good at taking charge and getting the house cleaned. This was my view from my cozy bed as I sat and watched Wipeout Wednesday night. What a great lover.

The other important thing we had to do before our trip was to take the beauty queen to get her hair did. I only have ONE girl so it's not often when I get to take her to a fancy place and pamper her. She loved it! Before we got there she randomly told me that when she grows up she wants to have her very own zebra. Then we show up and BAM, she get's a zebra cover thingy. She looked over at me with her mouth open shaking her head, it was cute! She's a hot mama now with her little slanted bob.

We got to our lodge Thursday evening, but it didn't take long for Jake to start the crab hunting. This was one of his best catches the whole trip.

Penny enjoyed his time eating berries and watching some TV. He stayed inside a lot because his Mom hates trying to wipe sand out of his no neck and in the rolls of his legs. Jake was a great babysitter towards the end of the trip. He was burnt out from all the beaching anyway and wanted to stay inside and watch TV. He would stay and be the guardian over Isaak as he slept allowing Mom and Dad some free time at the beach. Can I just say that having a big kid is AWESOME!?

Some days when Penny DID go to the beach, he was KNOCKED OUT. This particular day he had been out for several hours and was given a nice dose of Benadryl as well because he had a reaction to the sunscreen. The combination of the two knocked him off his butt and he was a limp noodle even when I got home to change his diaper before putting him to bed. He didn't even move a muscle.

The food on our trip was divinity. We each took a turn being in charge of dinner. Spaghetti on the Lowe's night, then a combo night of hot dogs and brats, then the Kehr's did a yummy chicken dinner with pasta salad, Sunday night was chicken super nachos and then breakfast on Monday was blueberry pancakes...mmmmmm. Not to mention all the YUMMY snacks we ate 24/7. It's only fitting to be shoveling food in your face as you sit on the beach all day, right?
Kora and Jake found these cherries in our batch we brought and they are STILL laughing about how they looked like a butt stuck together. I think they remind me of Kora's tramp stamp she had one time.

We also found a chip before we left for the trip that was screaming for us to stay home.

On Saturday we had friends join us which made the day even MORE fun. Dan and Priscilla came with their two kids and Carma and Eric (SS's cousins) also came down from DC to play. It was awesome. All the kids got along so well. Dan is such a big kid and the kids LOVED having his pull them on boogie board rides in the tide pools.

When Penny DID come to the beach, he'd roam around all by himself making passerby'ers look confused as if he had been left alone there. He loved the open area for him to just explore and get sandy.

Miah spent one whole day digging this quarry. He was so focused about it and this picture doesn't do justice. This thing was so deep that the beach patrol had to come by the next day and fill it back up for safety reasons. When he was in that hole digging, you couldn't even see him, it was hilarious. He was covered in silver sand just laboring away.

Our little lodge was just perfect for our family. It had KINDA two bedrooms. One was for Penny, and the upstairs loft for the kids. The Lover and I slept in the living area on the mattress from Penny's room...that is...AFTER we broke the futon. Get your head outta the gutter people, it was already cracking...
The lodge was decorated really outdoorsy reminding me of the house from Old Yeller. There was fabulous professional photography on the walls as you can see here. My favorite part of this photography was the date and time stamp on it. So lovely, don't' you think?

On Sunday is was pretty overcasty which was perfect for all of our sunburned little bodies (well, BIG bodies if you count me). Penny ate watermelon with his float on. He's a safety guy. He wasn't taking any chances with that tide...who KNOWS when it might come and sneak up on ya.

The kids got majorly sandy one last time.

And the Lover made his beauty queen a mermaid. Doesn't everyone do that on EVERY beach vacation? It's like required I think to complete the trip.

The whole time was lovely. Simply lovely. I'll have a picture of our little group once my SS puts it up on her blog and I can steal it. They're great people to vacation with. Even if they DO sneak over to your lodge at night while you're in your underwear asking you to come to their place for a party. Thanks K family!
Even though our actual vacation is over, every day is a beach day to us so I'm sure you'll be seeing more of our fun in the coming summer months!

I'm so glad that I missed that whole beach thing...it looks like you guys had a horrible time! The kids looked like they were totally faking their smiles the whole time.

I think that chip was screaming because your breath stinks!

That looks really fun! I'm jealous... we just spent the fourth in the hottest weather and there was NO beach around!

Soooo, you made spaghetti on your night. That's interesting since you HATE spaghetti! Lover must have cooked dinner that night.
