She can READ!!

Ok, so maybe she can just memorize BUT she was super proud when she came home yesterday and could "read" this book to me! It's her first reading experience ever! Kora is gonna LOVE reading unlike Jake and I who can't stand it. I bet she's gonna read a million books once she can really read. It's so fun to watch her be excited about knowing her sounds. Even though her "L" sounds like a "Y" it's so dang cute I can't correct it! I love it!

She's also become quite the teacher and every day when she comes home from school she "teaches" Miah. He has to follow all her rules, stand in a line, raise his hand and he even gets on yellow sometimes when he doesn't listen. What is it with girls loving being the teacher? My sisters and I would always arrange desks and use notebooks and teach each other. We'd fight over who got to the be teacher. Amy always won because she could punch the hardest but eventually she grew out of it and Lindsay would do whatever I told her to do so I got to be the teacher. My Jake has NEVER acted the teacher part or anything close. It's totally a girl thing!

I loved reading as a kid, then I hated it as a big kid, and now I love it again as an even bigger kid. So, who knows what'll happen with Kora.

And just for the record, I DID come this afternoon. Gabe took a long nap. Thanks for calling me when you left. And don't call me a loser.

Same here--Alex, no way is he playing school. Maddie has been doing it for a couple years now. But all the sudden, now she's making cards and letters everyday starting as soon as she gets off the bus.

*Sigh* Why can't Jr like reading as well as Kora does? It's hard having ur situation in reverse!

i was ridiculous about playing teacher. i had a chalk board, and a marker board (ooh, if she doesn't have them, but that would be SO much fun, especially since Miah lets her be his teacher, then she'd have a REAL audience). so cute!

i think it's something inside girls that needs to be fulfilled... and if it doesn't.. then you are always haunted by it... like me and being a cashier. I've always wanted to be the cashier... but you always made me buy things and said, "yeah... you can do it next"... but then you were conveniently "too tired" when it was my turn... i never learned... you did that EVERY time. *sigh*... well good for Kora for liking to read... i'm proud of her!!!... i wish i liked reading... i'm too ADD for that.

Yook is too cute!!

Jerad and I used to argue over whether to correct the kids' cute ways of saying things. He wanted them to say it RIGHT, and I loooooved the way they said it wrong. I knew they would grow out of it (how many 30 year olds do you know that say "imperesting"?) and I wanted to enjoy it.
