The End of an Era

Well, the time has come to announce my bittersweet news. I told you all I was working on something huge that was taking up SO much of my time and I would tell you about it later, remember? Well that HUGE thing is selling my business. Tonight we closed on the sale so it's official, I'm no longer a business owner, a partier or a princess. I was SO excited about everything, but also SO sad because this business was such a HUGE blessing to me and my family. It helped us get through 3 years of law school and more. I told Austin that when we frame his law degree for his office, we have to add a little metal plaque that says, "This degree made possible by Jessica's Princess Parties." He said he would :) After four FULL years, and over 1100 parties, it's all over. As I watched Shannon, the girl who bought it (also one of my Princesses), drive off with all my files, paperwork and a flash drive that held every key to my success, I felt so...un-needed. I know being a mom is a big huge job, but I've been a mom AND a business owner for so long that now I feel like I'm "just" a mom. I'm sure a couple years after the baby is born I'll think of a new fun thing to start up and begin all over again with a new adventure, but for now, I'm going to be a mom - and I'm really excited about that.

aaahhhh:( I can see how it would be a hard thing to do:) But...I love your last sentence here...for now you'll be a mom:) And to me that is enough! Especially to 4 kiddos! It's only the most important job EVER and the hardest:) I felt sad when I packed up my whole classroom after 3 years of teaching and taught my last day. It was hard to drive to the admin. building and sign those resignation papers too. But now looking back I wonder why it was even that hard?!

i think, from my meager never-been-a-business-owner point of view, that it is SUCH an accomplishment that you can even say you had a business and it was successful enough that you sold it! the business didn't die, you sold it. that is so cool. i admire you.

i'm sorry but kind of excited for you... this opens up a window for a whole new thing!! I bet when i move back to texas a few years we will put something together. Also... i feel sorry for your princess owner... that's one crappily drawn crown on that logo. hahah... it's amazing what happens in 4 years.

I agree with Lindsay, this is going to open up windows for you. What a good experience all this has given you. Wow, really awesome Jess that you created this whole thing, and you are so strong to let it go when the time is right. (letting go at the right time is a REALLY hard thing to do, bravo Jess!)

Yay! and sad at the same time. I'm glad the sale finally went through, one less thing to worry about! You were one of my favorite princess. You always looked the most fabulous in our costumes!
